When I started making my own hair care and skin care products, I began to look at each of the commercial products in our cabinets.

I slowly switched to making all of the creams, makeup, and hair care products on my side of the bathroom.

After that, it was time to get my husband involved! He was already using my homemade shampoo, homemade toothpaste, and bar soap for men, but he still had a whole collection of beard care products I hadnโ€™t DIYed yet.

Now, he uses all homemade beard care products and loves them! I can select great ingredients and customize them to suit his preferences, plus we save a lot by not purchasing commercial products.

DIY Beard Care

Making your own beard care products is easier than you may think! Any balms, oils, or shampoos you shop for at the store can be switched to homemade versions that save money, reduce waste, and use natural ingredients.

From beard shampoo to growth oil, every product you love can be made at home with simple ingredients. With these products often going directly onto the face, itโ€™s important to use great ingredients that nourish the hair and skin.

Beard care looks different for everyone, but youโ€™ll surely find some great recipes in this collection! Keep that beard healthy, soft, and groomed with homemade beard care to suit your needs.

Tips for a Healthy Beard

Keep it Clean: Washing your beard is just as important as washing the hair on your head. Opt for a gentle, nourishing beard shampoo like the ones in this post. How often you should cleanse your beard depends on your hair type and the length of your facial hair, but 2 to 3 times a week is a good place to start. Keep in mind that itโ€™s still a good idea to wash your face with a homemade face wash every day where facial hair isnโ€™t growing.

Brush or Comb: Keep your beard free of tangles and knots by regularly brushing or combing it. Donโ€™t forget to take care of your brush, too! You can find out how to do that in the post below.

Moisturize it: Just like the hair on your head, moisturizing is essential to keep your beard soft and healthy. Beard oil and beard balm are easy to make, and they do a fantastic job of keeping the beard hair hydrated. Keep reading for those recipes!

Trim Often: Giving your facial hair regular trims will keep the hair healthy and free of split ends while allowing you to keep it well-shaped. For best results, use sharp scissors that are intended for cutting hair.

Choose the Right Products: Beard care products arenโ€™t a one-size-fits-all deal. Consider your individual needs as you select a beard care routine. Hair type, beard length, and whether youโ€™re prone to dandruff or oiliness are all important factors to consider as you make your beard care products.
