Looking for a little self-care? Rose bath salts are easy to make and extremely beneficial for the skin. Made with a blend of pink salt and sea salt, these bath salts will soothe achy muscles and sore joints.
Soaking in the tub can be one of the best ways to end a long stressful day. Not only can it be relaxing, but it can also soothe aches and pains.
Bath salts alone can have many benefits for the skin; they can soothe itchy skin and help with certain skin issues such as eczema and psoriasis.
Adding in both rose petals and rose essential oil will make this soak extra soothing and relaxing.
I admit, I have a lot of go-to bath soaks. Whether it’s a simple baking soda foot soak or a nourishing coconut milk bath, just having something to relax the body after a long day is a must for me.
Rose bath salts
Rose bath salts are perfect for a warm bath and an excellent addition to a homemade gift basket. I like to make my bath salts with a blend of pink Himalayan salt and sea salts.
Soaking in salts can help with back pain, sore muscles, and joint aches.
For these bath salts, I am adding in rose petals and rose essential oils. This will make for a very relaxing, calming, and soothing bath soak.
When to Use Bath Salts
Try soaking in a rose bath before bed to promote a better night’s sleep. It may help you to fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer.
Benefits of rose essential oil
Rose essential oil is very pure, gentle, and smells amazing. It can be a very expensive essential oil as it takes over 200,000 rose petals to get 5mL of rose essential oil. That is a lot of roses!
I have a small bottle of rose oil on hand that I use very sparingly, but it has come in handy multiple times.
Rose essential oil has just unbelievable benefits for the skin and can help with almost all skin imperfections.
Rose oil is a very powerful immune-boosting oil and can help support the respiratory and digestive system.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup sea salt
- 1/2 cup pink Himalayan salt
- 10 drops rose essential oil
- Rose petals (optional)
- Vitamin E oil (optional)
- Small muslin bags
- Small mason jars for storage
Recipe instructions
- Mix the salts together in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Stir until they are well combined.
- Add in the rose essential oil. I use about 10 drops. Adjust the amount based on your preference.
- If using vitamin E oil, add it in now. Stir with a wooden spoon until the essential oils and vitamin E oils are mixed with the salts.
- Add in rose petals.
- Transfer to small muslin bags or to a mason jar for storage.
NOTE: Use the muslin bags if you don’t want the salt or rose petals going down your drain. Also makes for easy clean-up.
How to use rose bath salts
Fill the bathtub with warm to hot water. Add about 1/4 cup of the bath salts to the water and swirl them around with your hand to get them to mix in.
For best results, soak in the bathwater for at least 20 minutes.
If using the muslin bags, swirl them in the bathwater and then leave it in the water while you soak.
Adjust the amount of rose bath salts depending on preference and on how much water you have in your tub.
How long do bath salts last?
If you store your bath salts in an airtight container, they should last for several months. Make sure that they are stored in a dry place.
It is best to store your DIY’s made with essential oils in glass containers as essential oils can break down plastic over time. Keep out of direct sunlight.
What can I substitute for rose essential oil?
Geranium essential oil can be used in replace of rose essential oil if you do not have it. I know that rose oil is very pricy and it is not one that most people have on hand.
Thankfully, geranium essential oil has similar properties but with a much cheaper price tag.
You can purchase rose fragrance; just make sure it does not have any harmful chemicals in it. Most fragrances are not pure and have adders that you will not want in your bath soak.
If you prefer, you can make this bath salt without any essential oils and just leave it plain. It will still give you lots of benefits soaking in sea salt and pink salt.
Epsom salt for bath soaks
Epsom salt is often used for bath soaks, especially when relieving sore muscles and joints. It does not have near as many minerals as sea salt but is still very beneficial for the body.
If you don’t have sea salt or pink Himalayan salt, you can make this rose bath salt recipe with epsom salt.
