It’s already time to start thinking about Christmas gifts again! Time sure does fly.

If you want a gift that is unique, low-waste, and thoughtful, you will love these homemade gift baskets, perfect for everyone on your list!

This homemade Christmas gift basket is complete with homemade bath and beauty products, such as whipped body butter for the ladies, cologne for the men, and rainbow bath bombs for the kids! All of the items are simple to make with natural ingredients and essential oils.

This time of year is supposed to be joyful but often turns stressful. With all the hustle, gatherings, shopping, and gift wrapping, it can be overwhelming.

Since getting into essential oils, I have found that I can whip up something nice for basically everyone on my list. It takes the stress off, makes gift-giving fun, and everyone always loves the gifts!

You can make several of these items and put together a gift basket or make one to add a personal touch to any gift.

What You’ll Need

  • Basket: You’ll need a basket to put the homemade products in! I am using one similar to this.
  • Tea towel: This is optional, but it adds a nice touch to the basket. You can choose a towel that matches your loved one’s kitchen or go for a classic, lovely blue like the one I used.
  • String: You’ll need string for decoration and tying gift tags on. You can use hemp, jute, or ribbon.
  • Jars: Of course, containers for your homemade gifts are essential. Mason jars or flip-top mason jars are always useful, but the containers you’ll need will depend on what you’re making.

How to Package a Gift Basket

Making a homemade gift basket can be as elaborate or as simple as you’d like! Have fun with it and put thought into what your recipient would like.

I always start with a beautiful wicker basket. You can find these at antique stores and thrift shops, around your house, or online. Feel free to use a metal basket, tote bag, or anything else you’d like as the main container.

After that, I layer a cute tea towel in the basket. This makes it look more finished and gives the recipient a beautiful towel to use!

Once you add the homemade gifts, it’s a good idea to label them. You can get labels for free from my online resource library and print them on adhesive label paper or tie them on with twine or ribbon.

Lastly, add any other finishing touches that you come up with; get creative with the basket! A bouquet of dried flowers, a Christmas bow, a homemade Christmas ornament, or a jar of homemade potpourri are all great options!

Helpful Tips

  • Don’t forget to label your items so the recipient knows what’s in them! You can get free printable labels and gift tags in my online resource library.
  • Consider your recipient when choosing what to put in the basket! You can customize most of the recipes by choosing unique essential oil blends and more to make it the perfect gift for that person.
  • Start early. When you’re making homemade gifts, it’s a good idea to start long before Christmas. That way, you aren’t stressing over getting everything made and you can enjoy the process!
