As the days get shorter and cooler, it has me dreaming of snow days, the holidays, and all the fun that comes with the winter months.

Though the cold winters in my area can last a little longer than I would like, there are a lot of things I enjoy about the season.

One of the best ways to embrace a new season is with diffuser blends. Diffuser blends can uplift the mood in your home, make it smell beautiful, and all the while, give you aromatherapy benefits.

Reasons to Diffuse Essential Oils

  • Aromatherapy: My favorite benefit of diffusing essential oils, aromatherapy can have an incredible impact on your mood and well-being. I diffuse essential oils whenever my family needs uplifting, focus, calming, or energizing. My essential oil blends for mood support are always at the ready!
  • Seasonal scents: Our sense of smell is incredible for evoking feelings, especially during seasonal shifts! Diffusing these blends gets me in the mood for winter (which is my least favorite season, so that’s saying something!).
  • Natural fragrance: Rather than scented candles or air fresheners with harmful artificial fragrance, diffusing essential oils scents your home naturally. Whenever the house needs freshening or we have guests coming over, I’ll get the diffusers going.

Creating Your Own Diffuser Blends

Diffusing essential oils is one of the most popular ways to use essential oils and is a great way to reap their benefits.

Not all diffusers are the same. You can read more about the different diffusers in my article about diffusers vs. humidifiers.

When it comes to diffusing, anything goes. You really can’t mess it up and the best way to find what you like best is by following your nose.

FAQs

What are the best essential oils for winter?

I like piney scents in the winter, such as wintergreen, Siberian fir, and cypress. Spicy oils such as cinnamon, clove, ginger, and cardamon are common scents during the winter months. Other must-have essential oils for the winter include vanilla, wild orange, and eucalyptus.

How many drops of essential oils should I add to my diffuser?

The amount of essential oils you add to your diffuser really depends on preference and on room size. If you are diffusing in a large room, use 6-8 drops of essential oils. For a small room, use 4-6 drops of oil.

May these diffuser blends be used around young children as some of these oils do not appear on my child-safe list.

I have a bog post all about using essential oils for kids that you can look at, it is more about how you do it than the oil. The post will clear everything up!
