Learn how to blend essential oils to make the best peaceful diffuser blends. These blends are calming and relaxing while releasing beautiful aromas into the air.
Diffusing essential oils is a great way to set a particular mood. Certain blends of oils can uplift the mood while others can calm the nervous system.
Essential oils are small aromatic compounds, and when dispersed in the air through a diffuser, you will breathe in these tiny particles.
After inhaling the essential oils, they will hit the limbic system; this is the part of the brain that controls emotions and memory. This is why certain scents can bring back a memory.
What is the Most Calming Essential Oil?
If you could only choose one essential oil to help promote a peaceful environment, you will want to choose lavender. Lavender essential oil is well known for its calming and relaxing properties.
Inhaling lavender may be the best way to promote a healthy night’s sleep or calming start to your day. Lavender has a beautiful aroma that can be found in bedtime lotions, sugar scrubs, linen sprays, and even laundry soap.
Lavender has been used for centuries to reduce stress, help babies sleep, and lessen anxious feelings. Though lavender is a great essential oil to start with for promoting peace, several other essential oils can be used as well!

How Many Drops of Essential Oils in a Diffuser?
You will notice that each of the blends contains 6 drops of essential oils which is a pretty safe starting point. The amount of essential oils you add to your diffuser really depends on the size of the room you are diffusing in and your personal preference.
As a general rule, large, open rooms such as the living room or kitchen; start with 6-10 drops. In smaller rooms like a study or bedroom, using 4-6 drops of essential oils is recommended. If I’m diffusing in a bathroom, I will usually use 2-3 drops.
If you have pets or children in the house, it is always best to diffuse in larger rooms with open doors.

What Essential Oils are Best for Stress and Anxious Feelings?
Similar to the peaceful diffuser blends, using floral and citrus essential oils may help with stress and anxious feelings. Diffusing these oils will help promote calmness.
Another great way to help reduce stress and promote peaceful feelings is to use essential oils topically. The best and easiest way is to make a roller bottle, choose essential oils from the floral and citrus groups.
Add 15-20 drops of essential oils to a 10mL roller bottle and top off with a carrier oil. Apply to the pulse points as needed.
How to Make Essential Oil Diffuser Scent Last Longer?
I commonly get asked about how to make the scent of the essential oils coming out of the diffuser last longer. Sometimes this can be as simple as your diffuser needing a good clean.
If you don’t regularly clean your diffuser, it can easily become clogged resulting in a weaker mist and ultimately, less scent. You can clean your diffuser with a little vinegar and a q-tip.
Another thing to consider is the type of water you are filling your diffuser with. It is best to use filtered or distilled water. If you have hard water or water high in chlorine, the essential oils may not smell as strong.
Lastly, if desired, add more drops of essential oils to the diffuser until you get the scent to linger as you want it to!
