Autumn is upon us, and I’m so excited for all of the cozy activities!

Baking pumpkin treats, sitting around the fire, and going apple picking are traditions I look forward to every year.

I also love using fall-scented products to really get in the spirit of the season. I make fall body scrubs and pumpkin spice soap every year; now, I will also be making fall air fresheners.

Seasonal scents are such a great way to make your house feel cozy in the fall, whether by running some autumn diffuser blends in the essential oil diffuser or spritzing these DIY room sprays.

I had so much fun making these 25 different scents that are inspired by my favorite parts of autumn. I know you’ll love them just as much as I do!

Why You’ll Love Them

  • Natural fragrance: These room sprays smell incredible without any artifical fragrance! The essential oils add a pop of scent while keeping the ingredients 100% natural.
  • Save money: Making your own air fresheners can be very budget-friendly compared to purchasing store-bought sprays.
  • Eco-friendly: DIY products help you live a more sustainable life with reusable glass containers and eco-friendly ingredients.
  • Get creative: It’s so much fun to try different essential oil blends and even create your own. Grab your assortment of essential oils and have a blast making DIY air freshener spray!

How to Make DIY Air Fresheners

Making air freshener room sprays couldn’t be easier! You’ll need witch hazel, essential oils, and a 2-ounce glass spray bottle.

Simply combine the ingredients in the bottle, secure the lid, and shake well. Your spray is ready to use immediately to add those cozy fall scents to your house!

How to Use DIY Air Fresheners

These essential oil room sprays are very easy to use; all you need to do is shake the bottle, then spray. You can spray these air fresheners in the air throughout your house and use them to scent linens. Misting your throw pillows, blankets, and curtains will add a lovely autumn aroma to those items and increase the smell in your home.

A quick word of caution: always do a test spray on an inconspicuous area of the fabrics to make sure the air freshener doesn’t stain.

Expert Tips

  • Don’t forget to label your room sprays! You can find free printable labels for all of the blends above, plus blank labels for new blends you create, in my member resource library.
  • Always use essential oil room sprays in a well-ventilated room.
  • If you have pets, keep a door open when you use room sprays. That way, your furry friend can leave the room if the smell bothers them.
  • You’ll need to shake your room spray before each use. Witch hazel helps the oils disperse throughout the spray, but it is not a true emulsifier.

FAQs

Can I make a fall roller blend?

Of course! You can use these same essential oil blends to make roller bottles instead of air fresheners. I like to use 20-30 drops in a 10 mL roller bottle, so you may need to scale up the recipes.

What are some other natural ways to scent your home?

I like room sprays for a quick burst of scent, but there are a lot of other options for naturally scenting your home. You can add the same essential oils into your diffuser for a longer-lasting scent, or make a cozy homemade simmer pot. DIY scented candles and homemade potpourri can also add natural scent, though they aren’t as strong.

What if I don’t have all the oils I need?

If you are lacking an oil that you need for one of the blends above, don’t fret. You can add more of the other oils or try adding an oil you do have. You may just discover your new favorite blend!
