Salt and Coffee Scrubs

Simple Dead Sea Salt Scrub

A jar of dead sea salt scrub.

You’ll feel like you’re at the spa when you use this beautiful Dead Sea salt scrub. It’s made with mineral-rich sea salt to exfoliate and nourish your skin at the same time. The salt is coarser than sugar, so this recipe is excellent for the arms, legs, chest, and back.

Homemade Coffee Scrub

Organic coffee scrub in mason jar with wooden measuring spoon coffee beans and a blue and white striped towel.

If you’re a coffee lover (or just love the smell), you are going to adore this coffee body scrub! It uses real coffee grounds to gently exfoliate the skin and, as you can imagine, it smells incredible. You can even adjust the coarseness of your coffee grounds a bit to customize the scrub!

Green Tea Matcha Scrub

Matcha is a seriously amazing skincare ingredient (I use it in my anti-aging matcha face mask because of this). Using it in a body scrub just makes sense! It will leave your skin absolutely glowing, and the gorgeous green color makes it a top pick for me when I’m selecting homemade gifts.

Best Foot Scrub to Remove Dead Skin

Flaky, dry skin on the feet is such a common problem, but it doesn’t have to be. Exfoliating with a hardworking foot scrub will get your feet back on track! This recipe is intentionally more coarse and less gentle, which is often needed on those calloused soles.

FAQs

How do you store leftover body scrub?

Body scrub can be kept in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. It’s important to keep water and air out of the scrub to extend the shelf life, so be careful when scooping it out of the jar.

How often should I use homemade body scrub?

It’s a good idea to limit your body scrub use to about 1-2 times a week. Exfoliating is great for your skin, but it is hard on it and simply doesn’t need to be done everyday. Once or twice a week will keep your skin fresh, bright, and healthy.

What if I have sensitive skin?

Homemade body scrubs are made with gentle, natural ingredients, but they are abrasive — that’s how they exfoliate dead skin. If the coarser body scrubs are too harsh on your skin, opt for a homemade sugar scrub. The sugar is much softer than salt or coffee grounds.

If you feel like your skin is looking dull or flaky, or you just need a little revitalization, you are going to fall in love with exfoliating body scrubs!

Always be sure to moisturize after you exfoliate. It’s important to keep that skin hydrated after using an abrasive, no matter how gentle. I like to use homemade moisturizer on my face, and DIY whipped body butter everywhere else!
