Homemade Soap FAQs
Yes! Homemade soap is made with the same essential ingredients – lye, water, fats, and oils – as store-bought soap, but without any harsh or unnecessary additions. It cleans skin and household surfaces well and moisturizes the skin with nourishing ingredients.
You definitely can! Bar soap and liquid soap work wonderfully with some hot water to clean floors, baseboards, counters, and other surfaces. Just be careful not to use too much soap on the floors, as it can make them slippery. Note: Most soap is not suitable for hardwood floors. I recommend using a homemade wood floor cleaner instead.
No worries! I have a recipe for that, too. If you prefer liquid dish soap to bar soap, try my homemade liquid dish soap recipe.
In addition to the shave soap bar above, you could make your own homemade liquid body wash, homemade goat milk body soap, or even DIY shampoo bars. You can replace all of the soap in your bathroom with a homemade alternative!
