Keep in mind

With any natural perfume or recipe you apply to the skin, it is important to do a patch test to check for any allergic reactions or irritation. As always, do not use essential oils near your eyes or ears.

Fragrance notes

Ylang Ylang is the base note for this fragrance, and it is an intoxicating mix of floral, sweet, and spicy notes that boost the olfactory system and lift and enhance your mood.

The middle note of this blend is lavender, which has a light, herbaceous, and floral fragrance. Lavender is a must-have for any soothing and relaxing essential oil recipe.

The top note is bergamot, which is one of my favorite citrus oils because it’s also earthy. It blends well with floral scents and is mood-lifting, so the perfect finish to this recipe.

FAQs

Can you turn this recipe into a roll-on perfume?

Yes! If you would prefer to create a roll-on bottle, you just have to leave out the vodka from the recipe and use a carrier oil instead. I love using fractionated coconut oil or jojoba oil, but there are so many effective carrier oils you can use. Add the essential oils, glycerin, your carrier oil and mix it in your roller bottles. Put on a lid and a label, and you’ve got a portable fragrance pick-me-up. You might enjoy these other essential oil roll-on bottles for mood.

How do you store this perfume?

This perfume stores nicely in an amber bottle with lid on if you keep it away from sunlight and heat sources.

Where to apply perfume?

The neck area is the best place to apply perfume, ensuring you can enjoy the soothing and uplifting scent. You can also apply fragrances to your pulse points, which include the wrists, chest, ankles, and even behind the knees. Wrists and neck are typically my go-to areas.

This ylang ylang perfume spray is perfect for…

  • Setting the mood when you have a date night or special occasion.
  • Perking up a regular weekday when you’re tired of tackling the laundry pile.
  • Gifting to the women in your life that deserve a little pampering.

Different fragrance options for your spray perfume or roll-on

Yes, you can create your own signature scent following the same steps.

You can experiment with your different essential oils to mix base notes, middle notes, and top notes to create your own perfume. Or you can stick to some of the tried-and-true combinations I also use when making my solid perfume recipe.

I absolutely love how simple these recipes are and the money I save by avoiding pricy store-bought perfumes. Plus, I get to use all my favorite essential oils and avoid all those unknown ingredients.

  2. Nicole says:

Hi, I’m just wondering if it would be ok to make this without vegetable glycerin?

    1. Laura says:

The vegetable glycerin helps the essential oils mix with the water.

Thank you for getting back to me.

The recipe doesn’t mention water… Isn’t that what the witch hazel does?
