WHAT ARE STRETCH MARKS?
A stretch mark is a scar that can develop when the skin stretches or shrinks too quickly. It is common to happen during pregnancy as the skin stretches quickly to house your precious baby. The sudden change can cause collagen and elastin to rupture. As the skin heals, stretch marks appear.
Stretch marks can appear red, purple, or skin-colored. They can be raised slightly. Over time they can fade, but in some cases, they may never go away. Certain lotions, creams, and essential oils can help to fade the scars and help them to never appear in the first place.
Stretch marks do have a genetic component to them, so sometimes there isn’t much we can do to prevent them.
DIY STRETCH MARK CREAM

WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE STRETCH MARK CREAM
- Coconut oil
- Mango butter
- Cocoa butter
- Olive oil
- Essential oils
COCONUT OIL FOR STRETCH MARKS
Coconut oil has amazing moisturizing benefits for the skin and is loaded with essential vitamins to help keep the skin healthy. It won’t take stretch marks away, but it can improve the skin and lighten the appearance of stretch marks.
Dry skin is more likely to tear than soft moisturized skin, so using coconut oil can definitely help. Some women find it effective to use coconut oil alone on their skin. For this recipe, you will want to use extra virgin, unrefined coconut oil.
MANGO BUTTER FOR STRETCH MARKS
Mango butter is rich in antioxidants, Vitamins A, C, & E. It can help to rejuvenate the skin, making it helpful for stretch marks as well as other scars. Mango butter is very smooth and moisturizing to the skin.
It can help to restore damaged skin and works for almost any skin imperfection. Adding mango butter to this cream will make it much more effective for healing the skin.
COCOA BUTTER FOR STRETCH MARKS
Cocoa butter is found in several conventional creams and lotions, especially ones that are made for stretch marks. It helps to keep the skin soft and flexible so it can stretch more easily.
Cocoa butter can also help reduce the appearance of stretch marks. It is recommended to use cocoa butter on your skin to keep it moisturized, especially during pregnancy.
ESSENTIAL OILS FOR STRETCH MARKS
Some of the best essential oils to help reduce the appearance of skin imperfections and keep the skin moisturized are frankincense, lavender, rose, and helichrysum. These essential oils can be very helpful for reducing stretch marks if you already have them. They can also help to keep the skin flexible and produce more collagen.
If you don’t have all of these essential oils, you can still make this stretch mark cream. I find that this combination works best, but you can just add the ones you do have for now.

FRANKINCENSE
Frankincense can reduce the signs of scarring and stretch marks by rejuvenating skin cells.
LAVENDER
Lavender essential oil is most commonly known for its ability to calm the body and nervous system. But lavender also has amazing benefits for the skin.
Lavender can be used to reduce the signs of aging, scars, stretch marks, and cleanse skin imperfections.
ROSE
Rose is one of the most prized essential oils and is rather expensive. It takes approximately 2800 rose petals to make each drop of oil. Rose can help to produce collagen, making it amazing for skin rejuvenation, scarring, stretch marks, and anti-aging.
HELICHRYSUM
Helichrysum is used in many anti-aging and scar reduction skincare products. It has amazing benefits for the skin and may help to reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

I did not have all of the ingredients listed so I used: mango butter, coconut oil, olive oil, frankincense, and patchouli. Followed the instructions listed and it turned out perfectly! I didn’t have a hand mixer so I just used a whisk but still got the light and fluffy consistency. I’m excited to see if this helps my stretch marks. Thank you for sharing!

Hi Laura! I recently found you on YouTube and have seen how creative you are in making home made creams. I really think this is the kind of stuff that you can’t buy at a store and is so much better for you! I recently started making my own face cream and will be trying to make this cream as well as I am 18 weeks in :).
May God and His Son Jesus Christ be with you and your family.

Hi Laura,
Wish you a very happy new year 2021:) So glad I found you on Youtube, I love your recipes!! Thanks for sharing them.
Just one question – how much do you whip them? I whipped mine and after storing it froze. I melted it again and added a bit more olive oil + cornstarch (as it was very oily before) and whipped again, yet it seems to freeze solid at room temp indoors (approx. 21 degrees Celsius). How do I get to stay more creamy?
Thanks!
Laura says
I whip it for about 10 minutes. It should stay light and fluffy at room temp.
