This sourdough french toast recipe is absolutely delicious and will quickly become a family favorite. French toast is the perfect weekend breakfast or great for brunch.
Preheat a cast-iron skillet over medium heat and add half the butter to it. You can add more butter as needed throughout cooking.
Crack eggs in a medium-size bowl. Add in milk, honey, cinnamon, and vanilla and whisk until everything is well combined.
Dunk a slice of sourdough bread into the egg mixture. Flip it once completely covering in the mixture.
Place it on a hot cast-iron skillet with butter and let it cook for a few minutes. Flip and let it cook for a few minutes on the other side.
Once the eggs are set, remove the bread from the skillet and top with favorite toppings. Serve and enjoy!
Notes
You can make the egg batter ahead of time to make breakfast a breeze. Just use it within 1-2 days.
This recipe is an excellent way to use bread that is a little stale!
My favorite way to cook french toast is on a cast iron skillet. It cooks evenly, doesn't stick to the pan at all, and has the perfect crispiness. When cooking on a cast iron skillet, it is important to heat the skillet first to avoid sticking. You will also want to use coconut oil or butter to fry it in.
