Ingredients

  • 1 loaf sourdough bread
  • 4 eggs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons butter for cooking

Instructions

  • Preheat a cast-iron skillet over medium heat and add half the butter to it. You can add more butter as needed throughout cooking.
  • Crack eggs in a medium-size bowl. Add in milk, honey, cinnamon, and vanilla and whisk until everything is well combined.
  • Dunk a slice of sourdough bread into the egg mixture. Flip it once completely covering in the mixture.
  • Place it on a hot cast-iron skillet with butter and let it cook for a few minutes. Flip and let it cook for a few minutes on the other side.
  • Once the eggs are set, remove the bread from the skillet and top with favorite toppings. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

My favorite way to cook french toast is on a cast-iron skillet. It cooks evenly, doesn't stick to the pan at all, and it makes it the perfect amount of crisp. When cooking on a cast-iron skillet it is important to heat the skillet first to avoid sticking. You will also want to use coconut oil or butter to fry it in.
