Melt the butters and coconut oil in a double boiler.
Once the mixture is melted, place the bowl in the refrigerator until it is set up a bit. You don't want it to be completely solid.
Add in the jojoba oil, arrowroot powder, essential oils, and vitamin E oil.
Using a hand mixer or stand-up mixer, whip ingredients together for about 5 minutes. Store in an airtight container.
Notes
For visual guidance, I’ve included the complete step-by-step video tutorial here in the recipe card and photos in the post above!
Butters such as mango, cocoa, and shea are the most common bases of any homemade body butter recipe. This recipe uses mango butter and cocoa butter, but feel free to substitute shea butter if your skin likes it better.
If your body butter doesn't hold the air after whipping, put it in the fridge for a few minutes and try again. It may not have been cold enough.
Body butter has a shelf life of about a year when stored properly. Be sure to keep it in an airtight container out of direct sunlight.
