These homemade bath bombs without coconut oil are perfect for a soothing and calming bath. Made with all-natural ingredients and pure essential oils, bath bombs are the perfect way to relax after a long day.
Mix all the dry ingredients, baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch and epsom salt together in a medium-size bowl. Stir until well incorporated. If using color, add the mica powder at this time. To make more than one color, separate the dry ingredients into smaller bowls and add the different colors to each bowl.
Add all the wet ingredients to a small jar or spray bottle, whisking together until well combined. If using essential oils, add them to the liquid.
Slowly splash the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix well.
Prepare your bath bomb molds by greasing them with a little jojoba oil.
Add the mixture into both sides of the bath bomb molds and then press the two halves together. Wipe the excess mixture off the sides and set it aside.
Allow the molds to sit for 24-48 hours or until completely dry and then pop out of the molds.
Notes
When adding the liquid ingredients, drizzle or lightly splash them into the dry mixture a little at a time. This gives you better control and helps prevent the bath bomb mixture from fizzing or getting too wet too quickly.
You’ll know you’ve added enough liquid when the mixture holds together when squeezed in your hand, similar to damp sand. If it crumbles, add a tiny bit more liquid; if it feels wet or starts to fizz, you’ve added too much.
To get the bath bombs out of the molds, tap the top of the mold with a spoon and then gently twist the top and bottom in opposite directions to separate. Allow your bath bomb to sit for 24 hours once out of the mold before using it to make sure it is completely dry.
Store your bath bombs in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. A basket works well for this!
